Released as part of the Royal Canadian Mint's ongoing licensed character series, this issue arrived the year Bugs Bunny celebrated his 76th anniversary — though Warner Bros. has never settled on an official birthday, a dispute that has persisted among animators and historians since the character's disputed debut in 1940's A Wild Hare. The RCM's collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products produced several Looney Tunes issues around this period, targeting the collector market rather than any circulation function.
