| Reverse description | A detailed high-relief rendition of Sandro Botticelli's celebrated Renaissance masterpiece 'The Birth of Venus' (c. 1484–1486), adapted for coinage by the Pobjoy Mint. The nude figure of Venus stands centrally upon a large scallop shell rising from the sea, her flowing hair swept to the right by the breath of the wind gods Zephyr and Aura, who are depicted in an embrace at the left with outstretched wings. To the right, the figure of the Hora of Spring advances with billowing floral drapery ready to clothe the goddess. The denomination '$10' appears in the lower field, with the 'PM' Pobjoy Mint mark situated just above it at the base of the shell. |
