Additional information

The Battle of Lone Pine, fought August 6–10, 1915, was one of the most concentrated engagements of the Gallipoli campaign — Australians captured Ottoman trenches in under two minutes of initial assault, then held them against relentless counter-attacks for four days. Seven Victoria Crosses were awarded for that single engagement, the highest concentration for any action in Australian military history.

The Solomon Islands has issued commemoratives under licensing arrangements for decades, a revenue mechanism common among small Pacific sovereigns with no particular connection to the subject matter.
