| Additional information |
The British Virgin Islands has issued commemorative silver pieces under royal license since the 1970s, contracting production through the Pobjoy Mint and later other private minting houses rather than operating any sovereign facility of its own. This 2006 issue marks the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001 — an event with direct relevance to the territory, as a number of BVI-registered financial entities maintained offices in the World Trade Center complex.
The coin has no monetary circulation history whatsoever. Issued at a premium directly to collectors, the face value is purely nominal.
