Additional information

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which first hosted a match in 1853. The MCG became politically charged ground during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, when it hosted the athletics and closing ceremony while swimming events were controversially held in a separate suburb — a logistical compromise that drew international criticism of the organising committee.
