Reverse description Two koalas — an adult and a juvenile — are depicted in high relief, clinging to eucalyptus branches and facing one another in a naturalistic composition that fills the central field. The animals are rendered with fine detail in their fur texture and facial features, set against a frosted background. The legend AUSTRALIAN KOALA arcs across the upper field within a recessed border. Along the lower portion of the field, the inscription 2011 10oz 999 SILVER is incused in a straight line, with the Perth Mint privy mark P and the initials EM appearing to the right.

Additional information

Australia's silver Koala bullion series, launched by the Perth Mint in 1987, carries an annually changing reverse design — a deliberate policy to drive collector demand alongside bullion value, borrowing the strategy that had already proven successful with the Kookaburra series. The 10-dollar face value is nominal; it bears no relationship to silver content or market price and exists solely to satisfy legal tender requirements under Australian law.

The 2011 ten-ounce issue was produced in a mintage-limited run, consistent with Perth's broader approach of constraining supply on larger-denomination Koala pieces to maintain secondary market premiums.
