| Reverse description | A high-relief, close-up portrait of Frodo Baggins dominates the centre of the reverse, his eyes downcast and his figure draped in flowing cloth, evoking the solemnity of the Ring-bearer's quest. Encircling the portrait, flowing bands of Tengwar script — bearing the inscription of the One Ring — arc across the upper and lower fields in an ornate, calligraphic style. The denomination $10 appears to the lower left of the portrait, and the copyright notice © NLP, Inc. is inscribed to the right. The design is entirely rendered in deeply mirrored proof finish, with the Tengwar lettering lending an unmistakable fantastical character to the composition. This reverse was issued as part of the New Zealand Lord of the Rings commemorative series tied to Peter Jackson's film trilogy. |
