Reverse description The centre of the reverse features the armorial bearings of the State of South Australia: a shield charged with a piping shrike (magpie) displayed, surmounted by a mural coronet, and supported by elaborate mantling of wheat sheaves, fruiting branches, and native flora, with a scroll beneath bearing the inscription SOUTH AUSTRALIA. The circumferential legend arcing above reads 1836·SOUTH AUSTRALIA·1986, flanking the dates of the state's sesquicentenary. The denomination 10 DOLLARS is inscribed in bold raised lettering along the lower arc of the field.
