Additional information

Issued as part of the RAM's ongoing State Series, this coin commemorates Queensland's 1989 sesquicentenary — marking 150 years since the Moreton Bay penal settlement was opened to free settlers in 1842, though Queensland itself didn't achieve separation from New South Wales as a distinct colony until 1859. The series ran through all six states across the late 1980s, each struck to the same specification.

Mintage was capped at 50,000 across proof and uncirculated formats combined.
