Obverse description Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in right profile at right, wearing a tiara and pearl necklace, rendered in intaglio against a plain ground. At left, a large numeral '10' vignette is set within an ornate guilloche panel. The centre carries the legal tender text in English and Jawi script, with the date '21st March 1953' and a facsimile signature below. The note is printed in red and green tones, with a fine guilloche border framing the entire face.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a central arrangement of the armorial bearings of the constituent territories of the currency union, including the arms of Singapore, Perak, Kedah, Pahang, Malacca, Sarawak, Brunei, Kelantan, Perlis, Trengganu, North Borneo, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Johore, Selangor, and the Federation of Malaya, laid out in a symmetrical heraldic composition. The design is executed in multicolour intaglio with guilloche underprint work throughout. Denomination numerals appear in each corner.
