| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship on the sea with a palm tree and rising sun on the shore, a dove in flight above, and a plough with a spade in the foreground. The shield is surmounted by a decorative mantle and flanked by laurel branches. The motto scroll 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' arcs above the arms within an inner border. The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears twice, once at the outer top and once on a scroll at the base of the arms, with the date '2003' divided on either side of the shield. |
