| Obverse description | The full Coat of Arms of the Republic of Liberia occupies the central field, featuring a three-masted sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a plow and spade in the foreground, and a dove in flight above, all within a shield flanked by scrollwork supporters. A ribbon scroll beneath the shield bears the legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA'. The date '1996' is divided across the field to either side of the arms, with the mintmark 'PM' at lower left.
