The Marshall Islands began issuing novelty collector coinage aggressively in the early 1990s, targeting the American commemorative market with subjects — classic cars, space missions, historical figures — that had no particular connection to the islands themselves. This Ford Quadricycle piece honors Henry Ford's first self-propelled vehicle, built in a Detroit shed in June 1896, exactly one century before this coin's issue date.
