Reverse description A dynamic composition depicts two rugby sevens players in action at centre: a ball-carrier in full stride evading a tackler who is brought low in the lower field, set against a stylised Fijian traditional mask motif in the background. Additional information

Fiji has issued collector silver under its own authority since independence, but this piece sits in an awkward category: a 2013-dated coin bearing the branding of the 2016 Rio Olympics, released three years ahead of the Games as part of the early licensing wave the IOC authorized to maximize revenue from the event cycle. The Reserve Bank of Fiji was one of several small-nation mints used by commercial coin producers to issue IOC-licensed product, with Fiji lending its legal tender status to pieces that had no realistic prospect of domestic circulation.
