Obverse description The right half of the note is dominated by an intaglio portrait of suffragist Kate Sheppard in three-quarter view against a fine guilloche underprint in teal and blue tones, with her name lettered below. To the left, a vignette of camellia flowers in cream and gold occupies the centre-left field, set against a pale outline map of New Zealand and iridescent multicolour underprint. The denomination numeral '10' appears in large format at lower left and lower right, with the Governor's facsimile signature above the word GOVERNOR at centre-left, and an oval clear window with a printed koru fern motif at lower left.
