Obverse description The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided by a chevron and charged with three galleons, supported on the dexter by a scarlet ibis and on the sinister by a cocrico bird, both standing on a grassy mound above waves. Above the shield rests a helmet bearing a ship's wheel and a palm tree as crest, with stylized mantling to either side. A ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto in the legend. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO' arcs along the upper periphery, while the date appears prominently at the bottom of the field.
