Obverse description Black on pale ground. The upper centre carries the bank title 'THE FEDERAL BANK OF CANADA' in arched lettering. A large ornate 'TEN' guilloche vignette occupies the centre, flanked by allegorical female figures and an industrial vignette in the background. Portrait medallions of two male figures appear at the lower left and lower right corners, with '10' counters at the upper corners. Manuscript text indicates payable at Toronto, dated 1st July 1874, with serial number 5698 printed twice.
