Obverse description Black intaglio-printed note on white paper. The upper register bears the bank title 'THE BANK OF BRITISH NORTH AMERICA.' in bold letterpress, flanked by four corner medallions each bearing the numeral '10' and two oval guilloche vignettes inscribed 'KINGSTON'. At centre, a Royal Arms vignette is flanked by two lower circular medallions reading 'TEN DOLLARS'. A central text panel reads 'THIS BANK WILL PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND TEN DOLLARS' with the place and manuscript date 'AT KINGSTON, 1st May 1875.' and manuscript signatures below. The bottom border carries the legend 'INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER.'
