Andorra has no Olympic team of its own in the conventional sense — the Comité Olímpic Andorrà was only recognized by the IOC in 1975, and the principality's athletes have historically competed in Winter Games with far greater frequency than Summer ones, given the obvious geographic advantages of the Pyrenees. The 2006 Turin Games, which this coin anticipates, marked one of Andorra's more active Winter Olympic participations, with athletes entering alpine skiing events.
