The Holy Family is shown at centre: Saint Joseph to the left, holding a flowering staff, gazes upon the Virgin Mary who cradles the Christ Child in a manger; all three figures bear gilt halos. Andorra's diner coinage occupies a peculiar niche — the country has no central bank and the diner was never legal tender in any practical commercial sense, existing almost entirely as a vehicle for collector issues. The 2007 Nativity piece is part of a long-running Christmas series the Govern d'Andorra has issued annually, largely sold through coin dealers and the Comú offices rather than any banking infrastructure.
KM#406 is struck in .999 fine silver rather than the .925 standard more common to the series, a specification shift worth noting for registry purposes.
