Obverse description The obverse features the quartered coat of arms of Andorra, surmounted by a miter and episcopal cross, centered in the field. The shield displays the traditional four quarters representing the co-princes: the mitre and crozier of the Bishop of Urgell, the vertical bars of the Count of Foix, the bars of Catalonia, and two bulls representing Bearn. The denomination '10 D.' is inscribed in the lower field flanking the shield. The circular legend reads 'JOAN D.M. Additional information

Andorra issued this coin to mark the 1999 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships held in Ramsau am Dachstein, Austria — one of the few instances where a country with no direct hosting role struck commemorative coinage for the event. The authorization came under Joan Martí i Alanis, who served as Bishop of Urgell and therefore as one of Andorra's two Co-Princes, a constitutional peculiarity dating to a 1278 treaty that has never been dissolved.

Andorra's skiing identity made the subject matter a natural choice, even as a non-host nation.
