| Additional information |
Andorra has no mint of its own and contracts production abroad — this piece was struck in Vienna under the Münze Österreich, which accounts for the city designation in the series title. The Chopin issue appeared as part of Andorra's broader commemorative program leveraging European cultural figures to which the principality has no particular historical connection, a commercial strategy common among small sovereign issuers in the 2000s.
Chopin died in Paris in 1849, almost certainly of tuberculosis complicated by pericarditis, never having visited anything close to the Pyrenees.
