The "coup d'état" referenced here is the November 7, 1987 removal of Habib Bourguiba by Prime Minister Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who declared the aging founder medically unfit to govern. Ben Ali's government rebranded the event as a bloodless "Change" — never a coup in official Tunisian discourse — and built an entire commemorative calendar around its anniversary. Annual issues marking November 7th became a reliable fixture of the mint program throughout the 1990s.
KM#369 falls in the middle of that run. The .900 silver specification and 38g weight place it among the heavier commemoratives in the series.
