| Obverse description | Central device depicts the emblem of the Arab Women Organization: a stylized open book surmounted by two hands supporting a circular medallion bearing Arabic calligraphy, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel branches. The Tunisian national emblem — crescent and star within a circle — appears at the top of the field. The circular legend along the upper rim reads in Arabic, identifying the Tunisian Republic and Tunisia's presidency of the Arab Women Organization for the period 2009–2011. This piece commemorates the 40th anniversary of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's November 7, 1987 coup — a bloodless takeover in which he deposed the aging Habib Bourguiba by having him declared medically unfit to govern. Ben Ali framed the event as a "medical coup" rather than a seizure of power, and for decades Tunisian state institutions dutifully celebrated November 7th as a day of national renewal. The coin was struck in 2010, just weeks before the street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi's self-immolation in December triggered the revolution that would force Ben Ali into Saudi exile within a month.
