Serbia redenominated in 2006, replacing the post-Yugoslav dinar at par — no conversion factor, simply a reissued series with updated national symbols reflecting the country's status following the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro in June of that year. The "1st coat of arms" designation in catalog references distinguishes this type from later issues that adopted revised heraldic imagery as Serbia formalized its republican symbolism.
ZIN has produced Serbian banknotes continuously since the interwar period, making this a rare case of an entirely domestic print run with no foreign security printer involved.
