Obverse description Central vignette is a portrait of Ruđer Bošković (1711–1787), the Croatian mathematician, astronomer, and physicist, rendered in intaglio. Geometric calculations and scientific diagrams appear at the upper right, complementing the scholarly theme of the design. The Croatian coat of arms is present alongside the denomination numeral and issuer inscriptions.
