Obverse description Central field bears a five-line Arabic Kufic inscription containing the Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) and the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Nasir li-Din Allah, Commander of the Faithful. The marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surah IX (al-Tawba), verse 33, running around the full circumference of the coin. The inscriptions are executed in a confident, angular script characteristic of early 13th-century Islamic hammered coinage.

Reverse description Central field contains a five-line Arabic inscription presenting the full titulature of the Khwarazmshah Sultan 'Ala al-Din Muhammad II (Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn al-Sultan). The marginal legend records the mint name of Ghazna and the date of striking, given as the year 614 AH (1218 CE), arranged in the standard Islamic regnal formula. The reverse layout mirrors the obverse in its epigraphic style, with bold, well-spaced script filling the available field.
