Additional information

KM#35 belongs to a series of Macedonian collector issues built around zodiac signs, each assigned to a denomination that otherwise saw no circulation use. The Capricorn release was produced in limited numbers for the domestic and regional collector market. Silver zodiac programs of this type proliferated across Balkan and Eastern European mints in the 2000s and 2010s, largely as a revenue mechanism for central banks navigating the transition from socialist monetary infrastructure to market-based economies.

Macedonia's denar was introduced in 1992 following dissolution of the Yugoslav dinar system. The 10-denar face value on this piece carried negligible purchasing power by 2014.
