The Gambia's currency has been issued by the Central Bank since the dalasi replaced the pound in 1971, but the P#10 series represents a mid-period reissue rather than an inaugural note — the design was already established when this run began in 1987. Thomas De La Rue handled the full production, as they did for the majority of Gambian issues through this period, providing continuity across the denomination series even as date ranges shifted.
Watermark-only security reflects standard West African small-economy practice for the era, before the widespread adoption of security threads in the region's lower-denomination issues.
