Nicaragua's Paslama turtle — known elsewhere as the olive ridley — stages one of the largest synchronized mass nestings on earth, called an arribada, along the Pacific coast beaches of the country. This coin was issued as part of a broader Central American wildlife conservation series, with mintages kept deliberately low to support collector demand rather than circulation.
