This note was issued in 1979, the year the Somoza regime collapsed and the Sandinistas took power — a transition that effectively ended the Banco Central's pre-revolutionary operating structure. Notes from this precise issue year occupy an awkward historical position: ordered and printed under one government, circulated under another.
Thomas De La Rue's London facility handled the full print run, as it had for multiple Nicaraguan series dating back decades. The single security measure — a watermark — reflects the relatively modest specification common to lower-denomination notes in the series.
