By 1995, El Salvador had been using the colón since 1919, but the Banco Central de Reserva had been through a turbulent stretch — nationalized in 1961, then restructured under the 1990 reforms that preceded full dollarization by a decade. This note was printed during a period of post-civil war monetary stabilization, the twelve-year conflict having formally ended with the Chapultepec Accords in January 1992.
Thomas De La Rue printed the entire late-series colón family to consistent specifications. The security thread on this denomination runs as a windowed strip rather than fully embedded — a detail worth checking when assessing genuine examples.
