The Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador had used Thomas De La Rue and the American Bank Note Company for earlier series, but by the mid-1960s the contract had shifted to United States Banknote Corporation — a smaller New York firm that competed aggressively on price and was absorbed by ABNC in 1990. The P#112 series reflects that transitional period in El Salvador's printing contracts.
Security is minimal for the denomination — a watermark only, no security thread. By 1968 this was already behind contemporary standards, and the series was replaced relatively quickly.
