Vint Hill Farms Station in Fauquier County, Virginia was a U.S. Army signals intelligence installation — one of the first American facilities to intercept Axis communications after Pearl Harbor. The NCO Open Mess scrip circulated internally among non-commissioned officers stationed there during wartime, functioning as a closed-loop currency to prevent cash from leaving the installation and to control spending within the mess facility itself.
The perforation security feature was a low-cost, low-tech countermeasure common to military scrip of this period. Wartime MPC and post scrip from smaller installations like this rarely survived in quantity — most were redeemed, destroyed, or simply lost.
