Obverse description The national coat of arms of Sri Lanka occupies the central field, featuring a golden lion passant holding a sword in its right forepaw, set within a roundel ornamented with petals and concentric decorative borders. Surrounding the central roundel is a stylised Dhamma Chakra (Wheel of the Doctrine) at the top, flanked by branches of the Nuga tree forming a wreath. Below the shield rests a traditional oil lamp flanked by a petala flower on each side, all mounted upon a decorative plinth. The entire device is rendered in high relief and well-centred on the scalloped planchet.
