Obverse lettering · NEWFOUNDLAND · 10 CENTS 1903
Reverse description The reverse of this trial piece is entirely plain and uninscribed, presenting a flat, featureless lead field with no design, legend, or device of any kind. The surface shows numerous handling marks and scratches consistent with the experimental nature of the piece. A slight central raised point, indicative of lathe or press centring, is visible at the middle of the otherwise blank field. This blank reverse confirms the piece's classification as a reverse trial, struck solely to evaluate the obverse die against a raw planchet.
