| Obverse description | Seated allegorical figure of the French Republic, rendered in the classical manner, facing left upon a plinth. The figure wears a radiate crown and flowing draped robes, raising her right hand to hold a fasces or torch upright, while her left hand rests upon an anchor symbolizing maritime authority. To the lower left, a sheaf of grain or tropical vegetation rises from the ground. The arc legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE flanks the figure along the upper rim, with the engraver's name BARRE and the date 1937 inscribed in the lower exergue. The design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
