| Obverse description | The South African national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Secretary Bird with outstretched wings above a shield bearing two human figures in the Khoisan style, flanked by wheat stalks and an elephant tusk on each side, with the national motto 'ǃKE Eː ǀXARRA ǁKE' inscribed on a ribbon at the base. A rising sun with radiating rays appears above the bird's head. The date '2011' is inscribed in the upper field above the arms, while the legend 'Ningizimu Afrika' arcs along the left and right periphery respectively in the Zulu language. The engraver's initials 'ALS' appear in the lower field beneath the coat of arms. |
