Obverse description The arms of Belize are centrally displayed, featuring a quartered shield bearing a paddle and an axe, a saw and a hammer, and a sailing ship in the base, supported by two barefoot woodcutters standing on either side; a mahogany tree surmounts the shield. The supporters and shield are encircled by a decorative wreath of local foliage. The country name BELIZE arcs as the upper legend, while the date appears in the lower field. A beaded border surrounds the entire design.
