Obverse description Draped bust of Liberty facing left, wearing a turban-style liberty cap inscribed LIBERTY on the headband, with flowing curled hair visible below. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery, seven to the left and six to the right of the effigy. The date is prominently struck in the lower exergue. The design, engraved by John Reich, is executed in fine neoclassical style with strong sculptural relief.
