Reverse description The reverse, engraved by Lilian Guerra, depicts a richly detailed scene evoking the indigenous San (Bushmen) people of the Kgalagadi region. Dominating the right field is a close-up portrait of an elderly San woman adorned with traditional beaded jewellery and a head wrap, rendered with fine ethnographic detail. To the lower left, two younger San figures are shown in the act of stretching a hide or sinew, symbolising traditional craft. In the upper left field, the stylised denomination mark '10 C' is rendered as a decorative device incorporating geometric and organic motifs, with a suspended pendant element. The engraver's initial 'G' appears at lower left.
