| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, after the portrait by T.H. Paget, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The king is depicted with neatly combed hair and a composed expression, his truncated bust occupying the central field. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear at the base of the truncation. The circumscribed Latin legend reads 'GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP:' arranged around the full periphery, separated by colons in the period style. |

| Additional information |
This issue belongs to a long-running RCM bullion and collector series reproducing Emanuel Hahn's 1937 dime design, itself derived from his earlier work on the original Bluenose motif first introduced in 1937 under George VI. The schooner depicted was the actual Bluenose, launched at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1921 and never defeated in the International Fishermen's Trophy races during her competitive career. She was sold into freight service in 1942 and wrecked off Haiti in 1946.
The .9999 fine silver specification places this well above the original coin's 80% silver standard maintained through 1967.
