Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair detail and a clean, unadorned portrait characteristic of the Paget design. The engraver's initials HP appear discreetly on the truncation of the neck. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP: in evenly spaced serif capitals, separated by raised dots. The legend is bounded on the outer rim by a continuous reeded border. The overall composition reflects the restrained neoclassical style adopted for Commonwealth coinage of the period.
