Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, designed by Percy Metcalfe, occupies the central field. The King is depicted bare-shouldered and wearing the Tudor Crown. The circular legend reads IMP. GEORGIVS VI DEI GRA. REX ET IND. IMP., divided around the portrait, with the designer's initials PM visible below the truncation. The rim is defined by a continuous border of fine dentils.

Reverse description The denomination 10 CENTS is prominently displayed in two lines at the centre of the field, with the date below. The legend NEWFOUNDLAND arcs in a semi-circle across the upper portion of the coin. A decorative scrollwork flourish appears beneath the date, with the mint mark C positioned at its base. The entire design is enclosed within a fine dentilated border.
