The draped bust is shown in high relief against a plain field. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' is inscribed around the upper periphery.

Reverse description Central motif of a Maori koruru, a stylised carved ceremonial mask rendered in traditional Maori artistic convention, flanked by symmetrical kowhaiwhai rafter scroll patterns. The denomination '10 CENTS' is inscribed above the central device. The design draws directly from traditional Maori carving motifs and was modelled by James Berry, whose initials 'J B' appear in the lower field.
