Obverse description The second effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Arnold Machin, depicted as a right-facing draped bust at approximately 37 years of age, wearing a tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA arcs along the upper periphery of the coin, identifying the sovereign with the abbreviated Latin title 'Dei Gratia Regina' (Queen by the Grace of God). The portrait is rendered in a refined, classical style with fine detail in the hair and drapery. The field surrounding the effigy is smooth and unadorned.
