Obverse description The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is portrayed in right-facing profile, depicting Her Majesty at approximately 64 years of age. The portrait, executed by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, shows the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl necklace, and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery of the field, while the commemorative dates 1952-2002 appear below the portrait, marking the Golden Jubilee of her reign. The design is rendered in a refined medallic style characteristic of de Pédery-Hunt's portraiture.

Reverse description The reverse features a left-facing broadside view of the Bluenose, the celebrated Nova Scotian fishing and racing schooner, depicted under full sail on open water. Designed by Emanuel Otto Hahn, the composition captures the vessel with its distinctive two-masted schooner rigging, sails billowing against the wind. The denomination 10 CENTS appears along the lower portion of the field, while the legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery. The designer's initial H is present in the field near the vessel. This iconic design, first introduced on the Canadian dime in 1937, has remained a defining symbol of Canadian numismatic heritage.
