| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, depicted in robes of state with ermine-trimmed mantle and jewelled collar, engraved by George William de Saulles whose initials 'DES.' appear below the truncation. The king wears the Imperial State Crown rendered in fine detail. The circumferential legend reads EDWARDVS VII D.G. REX IMPERATOR, separated by a small ornamental cross, running along the outer border of the coin field. |
