Namibia's 10-cent coin has changed little since the series was introduced following independence in 1990, when the Namibian dollar replaced the South African rand at par. KM# 7 has seen composition adjustments over the decades — the shift to copper-plated steel reflects the same cost pressures that drove central banks across southern Africa to abandon solid bronze and brass flans during the 2000s and 2010s.
