The Seychelles transitioned to a decimal currency system in 1976 upon independence from Britain, replacing the Seychellois rupee subdivisions with a new cent-based structure. This brass 10-cent type ran through two cataloged varieties — KM#48.1 and KM#48.2 — distinguished by minor die differences accumulated across a production span of over two decades.
